Severe Cold – How to treat at home?
A nasty cold can leave you feeling miserable and sniffling the whole day. You may also suffer from a blocked nose and find it difficult to sleep during the night. Whether it is a severe congestion, a running nose or a cold associated with chills and body aches, there are effective home remedies to treat all these symptoms.
Some quick cold remedies
The first thing to remember is to stay hydrated when you have a severe cold. Keep sipping plenty of hot water throughout the day. Ginger is a great natural reliever of cold. Grate some fresh ginger and allow it to steep in boiling water for a couple of minutes. Strain the mixture and add a teaspoon of pure honey and drink 2 to 3 times a day to get relief from cold.
Another great home remedy is to make a mixture of fresh lemon, honey and cinnamon powder. Mix it in water to make syrup. Drink this syrup regularly for a couple of days and you will get relief from any nasty cold that you have. Turmeric is another great spice that has immense medicinal value. Add a teaspoon of turmeric powder to a glass of hot milk and drink it before going to bed at night. You will feel fresh and energetic in the morning.
Home remedies for a cold n cough
When you have cough continuously for a couple of days, the best home remedy is black pepper. Take a teaspoon of black pepper and powder it finely. Boil a glass of cow’s milk and add the black pepper and allow it to simmer for a minute. Add a teaspoon of honey after allowing the milk to cool a bit and drink the mixture. Black pepper is a great remedy for cough and cold and is a natural anti-oxidant and anti-microbial as well.
How to cure a cold naturally
Cold can be treated naturally at home itself. Take a pinch of the following:
Grind all the above into a fine powder. Sprinkle a bit of warm water on the powder to make a fine paste. Apply the paste on the forehead and chest and allow it to sit for a few hours. You will notice that this poultice is very effective and you get almost instant relief from cough and cold. Continue the treatment for 2 to 3 days for severe cases of cold.
